Cassper Nyovest has been in the mood to rap recently, after his brow-raising verse on Fakaloice’s ‘Ooh Aah,’ the North West Province emcee has voiced his eagerness to do more rapping and bring back the hip hop culture in Mzansi.
In a recent tweet responding to a fan who asked him to get his third studio album ‘Thuto‘ back on Apple Music, Cassper revealed that the glitch is due to the fact that he has signed a new distribution deal and the project is just moving from one system to another and will soon be re-uploaded.
No panic. I just signed a new distribution deal so its moving from one system to another, that's all. I also have a new single dropping soon by the way. https://t.co/zesU8gzGTj
The ‘Tito Mboweni‘ rapper also criticized rappers who complain too much about Amapiano leading to a decline of rap in SA and urged them to become more creative to stand a chance to compete instead of complaining, in another tweet.
Hip hop niggas is too worried about amapiano to be honest. Niggas is also too worried about numbers, likes and views. Just drop music niggas!! Amapiano this, amapiano that!!! Haha. The shit is going no where!!! This is the time to get creative !!! Let's get busy!!! I'm inspired!!!
Also on Twitter Don Billiato announced that he has a new single on the way and it’s so good, it deserves a Hype Wiliams video, to match the energy of the song.

Vocal and sometimes controversial South African media personality and former MTVBase VJ Sizwe Dhlomo has expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the hip hop genre in South Africa amidst the rise of the Amapiano wave.
The hip hop genre in SA has seen a steady decline in the past few years, with some rappers even branching out into other genres like Amapiano and Gqom and some even giving up rapping totally to focus on the more commercial genres.
Rappers like Cassper Nyovest, Blxckie, and Reason are very prominent in the Amapiano space, so much so that Blxckie played in the Amapiano team against the hip hop team during the celebrity charity match that was played in honour of Riky Rick.
Reason has taken a new moniker to accommodate his new career as an Amapiano artist, he is now known as Sizwe Alakine.
Hip Hop used to be the most commercial and biggest genre in the country from the emergence of the AKA and Cassper era 2011-14 to the era of Nasty C and A-Reece (2016). After the pandemic, the genre has lost its attraction to Amapiano and Gqom and other dance-based genres.
Following a tweet by Dhlomo, fans posited that the beef era helped propel both Nyovest and Forbes to great heights but it was not sustainable to keep the whole genre up for long and that Amapiano is so big because the artists collaborate heavily amongst each other, while said hip hop fell because the rappers are not authentically South African and are trying to copy American rappers.

When SA rapper Nadia Nakia was asked about her relationship with Vic Mensa on Drink or Tell the Truth the rapper revealed that she and Vic had broken up. She said: “We broke up, but it’s fine, it doesn’t matter.” Not long after she began sparking rumours of dating fellow SA rapper AKA who is arch-rivals with her former label boss Cassper Nyovest.
But Nadia’s fans will not let her forget about her former American beau.
During their IG Live, the couple were casually chatting to fans when one comment caught AKA’s attention. The ‘Composure’ rapper read it out aloud:
“Vic Mensa still loves you.”
It was all jokes, though, for the couple as Nadia jokingly asked: “Why are you reading those comments? There are so many other nice comments, why are reading those comments?”
Looks like the couple may be more than just a publicity stunt as Nadia has stated that she would lik to hav Kiernan’s babies after witnessing his dad skills with his daughter Kairo.
“We didn’t plan to become a couple, it just happened. I’ve witnessed how great he is as a father; of course, I’d love to have his babies one day,” Nadia was quoted as saying.
