Recently stumbled upon a young Zimbabwean rapper by the name of Kay Flow whose music caught my attention and I would be doing a disservice if I kept this gem from fellow music heads.
Kay Flow
His consistent run of mixtape and single releases helped him develop a unique sound and grow an impressive listenership. Kay Flow’s Audiomack, having been opened in 2019, currently sits on over 22K plays, while his YouTube views for his latest music video, Mfana Wepa Jecha (the track that initially caught my attention) stands at just over 11K.
In many of his songs, Kay Flow showcases his diversity as a musician while also adding a comedic element for an enhanced sonic experience.
At 22 years old, the young Zim emcee demonstrates enthusiasm and confidence in his music and where he sees it taking him – to the top. With 3 projects and a few loosies in his catalog, he’s one to look out for.
Ghanaian rapstar Sarkodie is again with a new music video for One Million Cedis off his recent album Jamz. The single features Ink boy who didn’t appear in the music video but delivered a melodious hook for the Ghanaian rap living legend.
With years of experience, Ghana’s leading youth creative agency Scripts & Sound organizers of several youth-oriented events and initiatives over the last few years start the year with its newest initiative “HipHop Wednesdays”.
As a creative agency that has constantly prided itself in providing nothing short of beautiful experiences within the creative space with its events and initiatives, Scripts and Sound is championing this initiative of creating a space for lovers of hip-hop and its culture with Hip-Hop Wednesdays. The event which is held every Wednesday at Area Bar brings together like-minded people who love and identify with the culture. The event is the first step in creating a community that will spearhead many initiatives that celebrate hip-hop and create opportunities for cultural affiliates.
Each week comes with a different theme that highlights various cultural moments and celebrates individuals who have played a huge role in the growth of hip-hop in Ghana and beyond. So for anyone that loves hip-hop and has an interest in hip-hop culture, Scripts & Sound has created the perfect space for you to experience the culture in Ghana. The Host for this week would be $pacely & DJ Kess
As an entertainment country, Ghana’s music scene is highly known for its rap culture. Since the inception of Hip-Life in the late ’90s Ghana has seen rap culture grow in sound, fashion, and lifestyle with rappers introducing various hip-hop subgenres over the years. From the days of Hiplife to the hip-hop period in the late 2000s’, the trap era, and currently the drill/asakaa period.
At every point, hip-hop and rap have been part of the nation’s music exports. Despite the continent and country being affiliated with Afrobeats, one can not deny the role hiplife and by extension, hip-hop has played in the music ecosystem we see right now. As such, there has been a need to create an environment and community where people with interests in rap, hip-hop, and its culture can interact and enjoy the beautiful culture.
Still on the run promoting his recently released album, Isibuko, Sjava drops new visuals in support of the project.
Isoka
Having quickly become a fan favorite, it was only right that Sjava gives Isoka a visual treatment. The 1020 Cartel general hits a vibrant pub with the Q Twins and Mzukulu for the upbeat love ballad where they perform the song in the company of beautiful ladies as well as some suitors looking to steal their attention.
Midway through the Luthando Sigubudu-directed visual, we’re introduced to a gentleman who is of the mind that he is God’s gift to women, though it is this mindset that would land him in a tight spot later on.
In a few days, Sjava’s long-awaited Isibuko Tour will take place, of which one venue has already been announced to be sold out. For those still looking to see Sjava perform live, be sure to grab your tickets for an unforgettable experience.

First off, I’d like to wish a happy birthday to one of the most prolific wordsmiths to come out of South Africa, PDotO.
