Kendrick Lamar Voices Concerns Over Roe v Wade Ruling as He Breaks BET Record

It’s been an amazing run for Kendrick Lamar since the release of his fifth studio album as he was nominated for several categories at the 2022 BET Awards and took home the plaque for Best Male Hip Hop Artist on the night of Sunday, June 26, 2022. 

On the backdrop of the overturning of the Roe vs Wade ruling in the United States, Kendrick Lamar while performing at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday gave his two cents on the issue, rapping the words ”they judge you, they judged christ, godspeed for women’s rights,” while his 8,000 Diamond studded crown of thorns bled all over his attire.

Kendrick Lamar saw his album, ‘Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers’ hit #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and the lead single ‘N95‘ peaked at #3 on the Hot 100.

After returning from a vacation and documentary shoot in Ghana, Lamar paid tribute to the late Virgil Abloh at Paris Fashion Week and now the rapper has hit another milestone, surpassing Drake’s record as the most decorated rapper by winning the Best Male Hip Hop Artist prize for the fifth time at the BET Awards.

Lee Hendrix Debuts with Sonically Pleasing Hiphop Debut Dark City

Ghanaian producer and songwriter Lee Hendrix who reps the city of Darkuman in Ghana’s Greater Accra Region just released his debut project and its both socically pleasing and a hiphop mash up. The Young Ghanaian who is not shy of experimenting with his sound and voice, communicates through his music with a soulfulness that captivates his listeners.

Lee Hendrix in his Debut Mixtape; “Dark City” which symbolizes his neighborhood Darkuman, the city he grew in; with a twist of His Love life, Experiences with women and the dark feels he’s experienced as a growing man.
On the mixtape, “Never Before” talks about how he feels about a woman he’s encountered, his opinion of her and his expectations of her and this is very relatable to others. He features the amazing Singer Lylah on this where she brought a twist of the feminine view to compliment the narrative.

With the release of his debut single, ‘First Date,’ off the mixtape “Dark City” ; The rapper began to get attention for his song writing ability,as well as the conveying of a great message; receiving praise from fans and most men relating to his ideology of females on a “First Date”. His Debut mixtape, ‘’Dark City” ; which is set to be released on 23rd June 2022; he seeks that his genre would be warmly appreciated. He’s collaborated with Marince Omario, Gagaranks and Lylah; also phenomenal artists in the Ghanaian Industry. On this mixtape, he worked with NeddyBeats and Master Mason.
You would find it interesting to know that, all the songs on this mixtape were mixed and mastered by the multi talented Lee Hendrix himself.

He stated that his love life as a growing man was the inspiration for this song. Mostly by how women act towards a man when they first have an interaction, and goes on to talk about their presence with regards to their Sex Life, which is quite common to hear from men. The influence of women when it comes to his music, how supportive women have been with regards to his craft.

Lee Hendrix uses his music to help speak to the masses about how difficult the quest for Love can get and this take on it.
His sound has the potential to induce a change of heart among those who are prone to embracing themselves in the quest of love; finding their path and yearning to have it.

The artpiece’s message is appropriate for the time we live in, and it’s an exceptional perfect gift from Him in this times we all find ourselves.

Dorolando Explores New Genres on Desperado with Sophomore EP, ‘Oasis.’ Lurking

Roland Paul Ebiwei, popularly known as Dorolando, is a genre-bending afro-fusion singer, producer, and fashion model who came into the music scene like a thief in the night to steal listeners’ hearts with his melodic solos and lyrical hooks blended with a nostalgic feel to soothe. Listeners couldn’t get enough of Dorolando’s last EP ‘Immortal’ which spawned hits tracks such as ‘Odeshi,’ ‘whine slow,’ ‘wavy,’ ‘murderer’ etc.

Now Dorolando is back with another exciting Extended Play of five songs. For the new project, the gifted artist dives deeper into other genres, as he flirts with a mix of different sounds such as Drill, Soul, Rnb, Afrobeat and dancehall, and more.

The artist titled the project, ‘Oasis’ because he describes music as “the best therapy in the desert of life”, about the decision to explore newer genres on the project, he told Starrfm, ”I wanted to explore more of me and create something I could feel, something soothing for the soul in these crazy times but also not to be too serious so it can feel like summer and orgasms. So that’s what Oasis is about.”

DaBaby Finally Drops the Davido Collab

A few months ago, Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido hosted American rapper DaBaby in Lagos and got him in the studio for a couple of recording sessions. Apart from touring and feeling a part of the Nigerian culture, Baby was on set with Davido for a much-publicized video shoot. Davido even had DaBaby draped in indigenous Nigerian attire for the video.

Nasty C Goes in Search of Underground Producer

South African rapper and record producer Nasty C, earlier announced his ‘Ivyson Army Tape‘ featuring a much anticipated Emtee feature. The rapper has taken to his Instagram account to find an underground producer whose free beat he is using for one of the songs on the tape.

Nasty C posted a snippet of the song titled ‘Terrorist’ on Instagram and asked his fans to help him find the producer whose beat he found on the internet, so the creative can be properly credited and rewarded financially for his intellectual property before the song is released to the public.

Cassper Announces Upcoming Record with Nasty C

Nasty C burst into the South African Music industry with a  remix of his smash hit ‘Juice Back‘ in 2015, and both Davido and Cassper Nyovest impressed with their verses. In 2016 Cassper and Nasty formed a bond in and out of the studio and appeared on ‘Jump’ together, with Anatii and Cassper had a cameo appearance on the intro of Nasty’s debut album ‘Bad Hair.’

Years have passed without a Nasty and Cassper collab, but the drought is over, Don Billiato got on Twitter and announced an upcoming song with Nasty C, much to the excitement of ‘Ivysons’ and ‘Tsibipians’ alike.

Nasty C recently announced an upcoming project titled ”Ivyson Army Tape‘ with an Emtee feature on it. Ivysosns are eating well soon.
