HipHop Takes Over As Sarkodie And Black Sherif Breaks Record In Ghana

Sarkodie recently dropped his JAMZ Album some days ago, and since its release, he has been doing numbers on streaming platforms. Dubbed Ghana’s biggest artiste, Sarkodie is still holding down all Top 10 spots on Apple Music Ghana with songs from his Jamz album. The landlord hasn’t rented out any room yet.

Also, Black Sherif becomes the first Ghanaian artiste to clock 200 Million streams on Boomplay! Crazy how he achieved this milestone in just 3 years. Sarkodie follows him closely with 100M streams and Shatta Wale comes third with 86M streams.

Congratulations to both artists and to the HipHop Industry in Ghana.

HHA SCOOP: Kultcha Is Up To Something Big Come 2023

It might have been a while since you heard of and from Kultcha, that’s very true, but the prolific creative and super sound engineer is still very much in the music industry.

Kultcha puts as much energy into his music career with singles like “Physical” featuring Muno and “This Year” (with a remix out) putting him on the map of good music lovers since their release.

Kultcha has been mixing and mastering some of your faves songs and projects underground and in due time, you would get to listen to them.

Michael Ogilo (born 14th of September 1990) better known by his stage name Kultcha is an upcoming artist and a super sound engineer who hails from the Southern part of Nigeria; Delta State.

Over the years, he has had a lot of sound engineering jobs credited to his name. Likes of P-Square’s “Bank Alert” and “Nobody Ugly”, May’D’s “Koba” and “Bamilo” featuring Wizkid, Phyno’s “Financial Woman”, Teddy A’s “African Girl” and many more.

But that’s not all, as you read this, Kultcha has already prepared a number of tracks that he would be releasing next year as an EP. Presently he has recorded 10 tracks and he is yet to pick which makes the EP. We are of a strong opinion that the project is going to be a 5-Track EP. The title of the EP is not known yet, but another fact we are very sure of is that the visuals of 2 of the tracks from the project have already been shot. The tracks are titled “Hook Up” and “Wole”. From such titles, one can’t help but wait for the project to be released.

Siege, Muno and Ola Tunji have been featured by Kultcha on the project. There’s a big possibility that there might arise other collaborations, thus the task of selecting which songs make it into the EP.

Before we runoff… Did we mention that the EP Project has already received the nod of a Canada-Based Nigerian Public Relations?

Now that you know, Keep Anticipating.

Testimony Time: Chinko Ekun Goes To Church, Says He Was Homeless And Sleeping On The Floor 2 Years Ago

Nigerian rapper, Chinko Ekun narrates the sad story of how he went from having one of the biggest songs in Nigeria in 2018 to becoming homeless, squatting & sleeping on the floor in 2020.

The musician reflected on his struggles after the hit song during a testimony session at Harvester’s Church in Lagos state.

In a now-viral video, shared by Bolaji Idowu, a pastor at the church, Ekun said his ordeals started when he had an issue with the management of his record label.

The rapper said during his dispute with the un-named label, the management reclaimed the house, cars and other properties given to him.

Ekun, whose real name is Oladipo Emmanuel, said he became homeless for months and had to squat with some of his friends including Aloma, ex-aide to Davido.

“I had one of the biggest records in Nigeria then titled ‘Able God. I was going to shows and everything was just sweet, you know. Before you wake up, they already booked you, you go for political shows, and they’re paying you for what you loved to do,” he said.

“Then, there was a lot of money. But skip to 2020, l lost my record deal. I had an issue with my record label boss. He was so mad that he asked me to leave the house. So, I lost my deal and the house and became practically homeless.
“I’m the gentle type so I don’t come on the internet to talk at all but it was just inside of me. Due to the trauma, I relocated to the mainland where I was squatting with some of my friends.
“Then I was depressed because every now and then, I was usually on flights but saw myself almost sleeping on the floor. At the time, I was also in a relationship then, and the breakfast (heartbreak) was so hot that I landed in the hospital. So, everything that mattered to me was crumbling.”
The ‘Able God’ crooner said due to the trauma, he contemplated suicide at a point when he visited Elegushi Beach.
“I was squatting with Aloma, Davido’s aide, at an estate which is around Elegushi Beach. One day I went to Elegushi Beach and thought to myself, abi kin be si inu omi ni? (should I jump into the water?). I started threatening God that if I bow to another god, na him cause am o,” he said.
“In like three months, I was able to record some new songs. I got two endorsement deals from some companies, then I started getting some shows till I was able to get my new apartment and some properties.”

Ekun was formerly signed to YBNL, the record label owned by Olamide, which he joined in 2015.

He is currently signed to Dek-Niyor Entertainment, the Dubai-based label.

Why I Stopped Viewing IG & Snapchat Stories – Blaqbonez

Blaqbonez shares why he stopped viewing the Instagram and snap stories of his colleagues.

The singer, who recently dropped his sophomore album, Young Preacher revealed in a recent Tweet that he stopped because it made him feel less of himself.

According to him, people always seem to have perfect lives. From them, he made a conscious decision never to feel tense by others.

He maintained that he started doing this 4 years ago, and still does not check the stories of others on social media.

He wrote:

4 years ago I stopped watching people’s IG & Snapchat stories because it always made me feel less of myself, people always seemed to have this perfect life, i told myself I won’t let them tension me. I still don’t watch people’s stories. #AskBlaqbonez

Vector Teslim Album: ‘The Energy Still Lives In Me’ is Out Now!

Teslim Album Features Ichaba, MILARE, Erigga, Cracker Mallo, Seyi Vibez, Wande Coal, Ladipoe, AO – Machine, Nasty C, Seun Kuti & GoodGirl LA. This new project is about Vector’s Growth process.

Vector’s third studio album is the culmination of a journey of rediscovery and realignment that was kicked off with the passing of the celebrated rapper’s dad in 2017. Keen to not get bogged down by superficial concerns, the 16 tracks that make up Teslim: The Energy Still Lives In Me reverberate with the clarity of Vector’s convictions as he ponders fatherhood, country, life and romance.

Vector Teslim Album Tracklist

With contributions from the likes of Nasty C, Seun Kuti, Ladipoe and more, Vector maps out a record of thoughts and moments.

“I went from just making music that was just compiling an album for fans to then taking it slow and making music according to my life’s truth and story, So when you hear songs like ‘I Need You’, it’s not the skill of delivery per se, it’s the writing. It’s a letter to my child. I’m telling her, ‘Your grandpa left but he’s a part of me, which is a part of you, which is a part of everything you do’…” says V.E.C.
