Double Trouble celebrate 100k Youtube views for ” Carton Freestyle “

Coast-based rap duo Double Trouble recently took to social media to celebrate their viral freestyle achieving record video views. The track has been in rotation with significant props from their fans.

Double Trouble consists of two members, namely: Troubletooreal and Realbene1. They have been making waves on the scene with their consistent releases of African trap.

The hip-hop group was established in the port city of Mombasa, representing the Swipe Gang from Old Town, Majengo. The group affiliates with the 80100 collective, a coast-based music and arts platform.

The group performs music for social impact to counter societal vices such as radicalisation and extremism. These issues are prevalent in the region, with most youths lacking meaningful employment.

The carton freestyle refers to their high status in the game, clearly expressing their intention to go for the throne. The line “Throne Ilkua Empty The Time I Sat On, 24 Bars Nki Deliver Kwenye Carton” references their entry into the game.

The carton freestyle defines their prowess, unmatched styles and endless bars that they serve in full cartons. Double Trouble proves they can do it with the best of them and emerge victorious.

Renowned award-winning media personality Jamal Gaddafi co-signed the group by saying:

“Young Generation Ya Wahenga cheki industry nzima ikipagawa Na Wamanga….” they are the face of Mombasa Trap…this low key slaps.

Olamide Mixes Bars with Yanos on New Asake Single ‘Amapiano’

Olamide Adedeji, also known as Baddo hopped on a Yanos song titled ‘Amapiano’ and said “watch me rap on this beat,” and boy did he glide. While gearing for the release of his sophomore album just barely a year after his debut, Nigerian sensation Ololade Ahmed, most popularly known as Asake, dropped a single with his label boss to usher in the album rollout, complete with a video.

The song is an ode to the borrowed genre Amapiano or Yanos as Urban South Africans call it, Asake has been infusing with his Afrobeats since his debut on the Nigerian music scene, he sings about the feel good nature and the addictiveness of the log drums and shaker replete on Amapiano instrumentals.

On Olamide’s verse on would think the versatile artist would sing, but he glides on the beat with a fully rap cadence as if he was rapping on a Chopstix or Timbaland beat.

Baddo drops bars about his extravagant lifestyle, success and loyal fan base, with the aid of movie and pop culture references.

Jeriq: The Young Hip-hop Hustler Running Eastern Naija

Jeriq

Sometimes in 2021, Nigerian rapper and lyricist Jeriq The Hustler released a joint EP “West and East” with his Western Nigerian colleague, Dremo Drizzy. For many people, the project introduced the former rapper to the more popular Nigerian music scene.

Jeriq

From releasing the project which went on to clinch the number 1 position on the Nigerian apple music chart in 2021, the rapper gradually gained the attention of Nigerians. He proceeded to release his debut album “Billion Dollar Dreams” in 2022, and the album became the rapper’s second No.1 Track.

The rapper has however grown into a much bigger superstar in the eastern part of Nigeria, especially after gathering a much larger following in the western part of the country.

The rapper has over the last couple of years collaborated with some of the biggest young names in the Nigerian music industry.

Jeriq has worked with the likes of PsychoYP, Dremo, Kofi Jamar, Alpha P, Flavour and even Phyno in the past and has over the years continued to spearhead a new Hip-hop wave in the Eastern part of Nigeria.

The rapper was recently featured on one of the biggest Hip-hop sounds out of Nigeria in a long time. The song which is titled “Oganigwe” sees him share the same space with Nigeria’s foremost rapper Zlatan and the newest King on the block Odumodu Blvck.

Oganigwe has gone ahead to become one of the biggest musical sounds from Nigeria, as it has continued to blow up all around the country and even went ahead to debut on the Top 5 of the Nigerian Apple music chart.

Jeriq was also spotted recently on a video call with one of the biggest musical exports from Africa, Davido. The video link-up is believed to have been made possible due to his association with Zlatan Ibile, who is a well-known friend of Davido. Zlatan even went ahead to give Davido a shout-out on “Oganigwe“.

The growth of Jeriq into a superstar has been on a steady rise and has been one to pay maximum attention to, especially because the superstar just seems to never stop.

Over the weekend he had a shutdown show in the eastern part of Nigeria and was also recently one of the performers at the sold-out “Mainland Block Party” which took place in the Nigerian Capital city, Abuja.

During the course of the week, he hopped on the new Tion Wayne record “Healing” and dropped a mad vibe on the record. The cover has now gone ahead to gain a level of clout amongst his fans and even nationally as well.

Jerid The Hustler as he is popularly referred to, in collaboration with his team the “Iyoo Cartel” has continued to design the new blueprint for what a rapper from the eastern part of Nigeria should be like.

Probably one of the very few rappers who has carried on the rap wave which is more popular in the United States, that is moving with a crowd and has a large team often tagged Gang or cartel.

We at Hip-hop Africa will continue to support the young star, with our continued support and also look forward to what he has in store for his fans in the remaining part of the year.
