“falz ft BNXN” Ice Cream (REVIEW)

The new single, “Ice Cream,” is Falz’s second release of the year, after the amapiano collaboration “Oga.” It is also a stepping stone to his next project, which will be released before the end of the year.

Falz comes through with his trade-mark silky smooth delivery on ICE CREAM, while pleasantly pulling out some slightly uncharacteristic risque lyrics, Blended perfectly with a uniquely delivered sugar-laced hook by Buju.

BNXN opens Ice cream and it is definitely not a bad call .

Ice Cream sounds like a good song with hit maker written all over it.

BNXN’s delivery on Ice cream could have been quite better.

Because not only did he open Ice cream, he is the only one with vocals on Ice cream.

The delivery could have made Ice cream sound more interesting as it began.

So what was needed was that BNXN delivered his verse with more energy and passion.

Falz nails his delivery on Ice cream, and this is what makes Ice Cream even more interesting to listen to.

BNXN lyrics on Ice Cream are actually intriguing when you listen to.

Falz delivers his lyrics on Ice Cream with such professionalism.

He has always known how to deliver the lyrics of a bad guy and this is what he did exactly with his lyrics on Ice Cream.

The production on ice Cream is almost perfect for the song.

It is so suitable for Ice cream because Ice cream does not need beats that will make it sound watered down.

Obviously, with the song lyrics and theme, it is obvious Falz and BNXN are the playboys who want no intimacy with women but only to gratify their desires.

They just want to play around because they are Ice Creams, you can’t have them permanently because you enjoy it for a period of time and it finishes.

Coi Leray Reveals Debut Album ‘Trendsetter’ Release Date & Cover Art

Coi Leray says her forthcoming debut album “Trendsetter” will be “one of the biggest female artist albums in the world.” She has spent the majority of the past 12 months proving her naysayers wrong.

She’s faced immense scrutiny for her music but she’s gained the respect and support of her peers in the rap game. All of the work she’s put in over the past few years have culminated in her forthcoming album, Trendsetter, due out on April 8th.

Coi Leray hasn’t revealed a tracklist yet but she has left behind a trail of clues surrounding what to expect. Two weeks ago, she released “Blick Blick” ft. Nicki Minaj, which will surely be on the album. Leray commemorated the release with a new tattoo in tribute to the song. She also revealed that Polo G sent in vocals for the project over the weekend.

The album announcement comes a little over a month after Coi revealed that she’d be taking a break due to the hate she’s received. The slew of positive messages that followed clearly put a battery in her back.

Ish Kevin drops anticipated mixtape, ‘Trappish2

Renowned Rwandan rapper and lyricist Kevin Semana, popularly known as Ish Kevin, made the announcement on his social media pages last month that his second mixtape would be released soon.

As promised, the ‘Amakosi’ hit maker with the help of One RPM, a music distribution company, released his long awaited project on Friday, March 25.

The seven-track mixtape came out with features of big musicians locally and internationally including Yannick YMK, pioneer of Kinyatrap, Kivumbi King, Confy, and Ycee.

Speaking to this publication, Ish Kevin described this mixtape as a game-changing project which explains the struggles and challenges young musicians face in Rwanda, as well as showcasing the vision they have for the future.

He described upcoming artistes as ‘amaraso mashya’ loosely translated as ‘fresh blood’, noting that if given a platform and support, they are capable of raising the Rwandan flag in places far and beyond.

“If you play tracks like ‘Generation’ and ‘Game Changers’ on this mixtape, you clearly get a picture of what we as Trappish gang are doing, and our vision to take Rwandan music to another level. This is a game-changing piece because after dropping it, the streets and the whole music industry won’t be the same anymore,” he says. “It’s just the beginning!” Ish Kevin adds.

‘Trappish2’ is a continuation of the previous mixtape, ‘Trappish1’, which had bangers like, ‘Waki Waki’ and ‘Waramutse Rwanda’ that made Ish Kevin a household name in the country.

To Ish Kevin, rap can fit in any genre of music which is why he produced ‘Trappish2’ in different styles of music like drill, trap, and afro-pop.

Asked about his concert which was cancelled last week, Ish Kevin notes that he is still seeking justice and if all goes well, he will organise another event to celebrate the release of his new mixtape.

Some of the tracks on this project like My Year, Clout, Generation, and Aho Turi are already trending on local airwaves and streaming platforms in Rwanda.

Other songs on Trappish Mixtape2 include Ndi Rasta, Power, and Game Changers.

Mzansi hip hop sensation Sihle Sithole, popularly known by his stage name Blxckie, has just met another milestone to add under his already well-decorated belt. Blxckie received a plaque from Spotify for topping the most listened SA hip hop albums list, with 8.4 million streams on his ‘B4NOW‘ album. The Durban rapper, singer, and songwriter is closely followed on the list by Pretoria super-lyricist A-Reece, for 5.7 million streams on his 2021 mixtape, Today’s Tragedy, Tomorrow’s Memory.

Blxckie and A-Reece sit comfortably atop the list compiled by the Swedish streaming service, and they are trailed by former Ambitiouz entertainment rapper Emtee, whose third album ‘Logan,’ has amassed a total of 3.4 million streams.

Pretoria seems to be running the SA hip hop scene at the moment, alongside eThekwini.

Further down the list are Kwesta’s ‘god guluva,’ Lucasraps‘ ‘031 to the World,’ Priddy Ugly’s ‘SOIL’ with 907k, 809k,  and 707k streams respectively. At 6076k  and 555k streams, ‘You’re Welcome‘ by AKA and Costa Titch, and ‘Product of a Praying Mother’ by Wordz, cap off the list.

KJ Spio shares the inspiration behind Sarkodie concert on Dubai desert

Sarkodie recently took on the Dubai desert, making him the first African artist to host a full concert in the UAE desert, made possible by CEEK, an award-winning developer of premium social virtual and augmented reality experiences.

According to KJ Spio, Creative Director of CEEK, the virtual concert was inspired by the visuals of Sarkodie’s smash hit song, ‘Illuminati’.

He said “The inspiration for the virtual concert came from the Sarkodie music video ‘Illuminati’, which he shot in the desert a few years back. So that was the original inspiration for it and that’s why we even started the virtual concert with that song. It is also to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ‘Rapperholic’, which was the second album from Sarkodie. I think that album has had a major impact on Sarkodie as far as his live performances are concerned.”

Sarkodie took to the desert under beaming sunlight, opening with ‘Illuminati’, leading into ‘Rollies and Cigars’, he continued his charged performances, right through to finishing with ‘Adonai’ which is taken off his Sarkology album.

“The highlights for me were definitely how quick the CEEK team came through. They flew people from America. Big shout out to ‘Big Cap’ he was super instrumental in getting us some people on the ground. Another highlight I will also say was just seeing a kind of a striped back performance from Sarkodie, just him and the music in the desert, without too many distractions. I think that was that was very special,” adds KJ Spio.

CEEK are ushering in a new era of entertainment, with a mission to empower creators with the tools needed to generate new revenue streams. With the virtual reality headset CEEK simulates the communal experience of attending a concert without leaving the comfort of your home. It allows fans to engage with artists in ways that they have never been able to before.

You can have a front row experience for Sarkodie’s Rapperholic22 in the desert via www.ceek.com , the 360 VR experience can be viewed via CEEK’s virtual reality headset, you can also access the Sarkodie experience in 2D via your laptop and phone.

Nota Throws Shade at Shane Eagle & Nasty C on Twitter

0

Controversial South African label executive and public figure Nota Baloyi, who is known for his hot takes on the South African music industry is back at it again. Nota’s latest antics are directed at his favorite targets; English rapping Nasty C  and Shane Eagle. A-Reece and Stogie T and Cassper Nyovest escaped Nota’s 140 characters of critique this time.

Baloyi who was Kwesta’s manager for more than half of the emcee’s career took to the blue app to disagree with Shane Eagle’s ”independent artist” claims, after the release of Shane’s sophomore album, ‘Green.’

The East Rand rapper tweeted, ” do it on your own so nobody can ever say they put you on,” in celebration of dropping his second independent album earlier this month.

Nota then replied with ”kids never take advice from someone who is still faking it  hoping to make it.” The Shade did not come as a surprise to fans  as everybody already knew Shane has never been in Nota’s good books, for sounding ”too American.”

Another Nota blacklisted rapper who sounds ”too American”  is Nasty C. The Durban emcee also caught some heat on Jack Dorsey’s app. Junior Ncgobo released a new single titled ‘Can’t Imagine‘ last Friday, which saw him returning to his lyrical and hardcore rapping ways.

A fan tweeted, ”y’all bullied Nasty C into rapping again,’ to which Nota from his handle @lavidaNOTA replied, “Nah, Blxckie does it best, Nasty C must just continue podcasting because his rap career is declining…”

Nota has always been of the opinion that Nasty C represents American hip hop and not ”authentic South African hip hop,” and should rap in isiZulu.

Do you think Nota is right, do you think Nasty C does not represent true South African hip hop?
