Ludacris Leaves No Crumbs On The New Joeboy Collab

Ludacris

Joeboy who recently released his sophomore album recruited American legendary rapper Ludacris on one of the records on the album.

Luda who was recently featured by Nigeria’s very own rapper Blaqbonez has now gone ahead to bag his second Nigerian feature with this record titled “Chicken, Spice & Curry” off Joeboy’s “Body & Soul” album.

The song although very short sees Ludacris deliver his signature rap style on the very Afro-centric instrumental. His delivery on the record makes me wonder if we should ask for a Ludacris Afrobeat project.

Ludacris is however not the only rapper featured on the project. The hottest Nigerian rapper on the block, OdumoduBlvck was featured on the Number 1 track on the album.

Odumodu who was featured on the record “Normally” alongside BNXN fka Buju. As usual, the rapper who always eats with no crumbs left, delivered a heavy verse on the record.

The project features a whole lot of amazing music, although only Ludacris and OdumoduBlvck made it in as rappers, the other features are CKay, Tempoe, Kemena and Oli Ekun.

3 Square Meal: Wande Coal On A Trap Instrumental?

Wande Coal

Wande Coal who recently dropped his third studio album “Legend or No Legend” has displayed his tendencies to flow appropriately on a trap beat with his delivery on the 3rd track of the project.

The “3 Square Meal” record sees Wande Coal flow seamlessly on the trap-infused beat as he delivers his vocals with his ever-sonorous voice. While, it is okay to argue that Wande Coal is not a Hip-hop act, his delivery on this record will make him body any trap-infused instrumental.

Emtee Records Looking to Sign First Female Rapper

Former Ambitiouz entertainment front man Emtee da Hustler has made his intentions known to sign the first female rapper/artiste to his independent record label Emtee Records, which currently houses Lolli Native. The ‘iThemba’ hit maker made this known via his official Instagram account.

He took to IG to ask which female emcees he should sign to the label and many fans suggested his former label amte back at Ambitiouz entertainment, Fifi Cooper.

Emtee and Fifi Cooper were both on Ambitiouz since 2015 and the latter left the label in 2020 while the former had already left with the first batch of artistes to controversially leave the label over financial disputes in 2017. The others who left with her were A-Reece, B3nchmarq, Flvme and Mashbeatz.

Fifi and Emtee have worked on several songs together in the past, including ‘Ngeke’ and Miss Pru’s possesl cut ‘Ameni.’

On whether Emtee was open to a reunion with his former label, like their official social media pages have been hinting for the past couple of weeks, the rapper said there was not a possibility of doing business with the stable again.

The Ambitiouz Entertainment official YouTube channel last week posted Emtee’s debut and sophomore albums on their channel, and this got fans talking about a possible squashing of beef between label and artiste.

Baddo: Olamide Shines As The Only Rapper On Wande Coal’s New Album

Baddo

Although working on a song that is definitely not a Hip-hop song, Olamide Baddo shines as the only rapper featured on the new Wande Coal album.

Wande Coal, who has continued to tease the release of his third studio album all over social media, has finally released the “Legend or No Legend” Album.

The singer, one of the pioneering artists of the new Afrobeat sound, has been without a new album for almost 8 years.

His second album instalment “Wanted” was released in 2015, although he released a seven-song EP sometime in 2020, not so much has been heard from the legendary singer.

Throwback Thursday: 4 Years Since Mandy &The Jungle, Remembering One of the Pillar Projects of the Alté Revolution

In 2023 Alté music and culture is becoming almost as popular as mainstream genres. Everywhere there are Alté acts like Smada, Odumodublvck, Amaarae gaining more and more mainstream acceptance and even the Afrobeats artists are now dressing in Alté fashion and some of them like Rema, Victony and Blaqbonez heavily identify with the culture. Audiences outside Nigeria are even aware of the Alté movement. Back in 2019 this was not really the case. One of the biggest pioneers of Alté music and culture Santi, now known as Cruel Santino, who has been very important in the perforation and growth of the genre and culture was able to plant a solid stronghold in the mind of Nigerians through his his sophomore album ‘Mandy & The Jungle’ in 2019.

‘Mandy’ released May 17th 2019, showcased a more refined Santi than 2016’s ‘Suzy’s Funeral’ and a more accessible Santi than last year’s ‘Subaru Boys: Final Heaven.’ A huge section of Alté fans still consider it Santi’s best Project till date and it’s hard to dispute that giving the quality of the tape.

The impressive thing about Santi’s career is that all three of his albums can make a solid for which is his best, only a few artists can lay claim to such a solid discography.

‘Mandy & The Jungle’ spawned such hits as Odunsi The Engine produced stoners’ anthem ‘Sparky,’ cult cinema backed ode to oral surrealism ‘Raw Dinner’ with Kida Kudz and Nonso Amadi and Bridge from Alté pioneer group LOS assisted ‘Freaky’.

This album is important to the culture as it made Alté music more accessible to the mainstream audiences and also introduced a lot of people to Amaarae, way before she had a global hit in ‘Sad Girls Love Money,’ via recurrent background vocals and uncredited vocals.

The album like all Santino’s efforts is a cinematic experience, evident through the smooth transitioning between each track, also added by a popping cassette sound effect before a song or a portion of a song starts, and also the seamless merging of music videos to create this one surreal world to back the sound of the album.
