Some wild video footage surfaced showing Meek Mill fighting to get out of a crowd in Ghana.
On Friday (Dec. 30), Meek Mill hit up his Instagram account to post a series of intense video clips that were filmed while the Philadelphia rapper forced his way through a rabid crowd as he headlined the Afro Nation concert in Ghana on Thursday night (Dec. 29).Meek can be seen practically fighting off people as he and what appears to be a team of security guards battle through the chaotic mob scene before climbing their way out of the sea of people and eventually making a grand exit on dirt bikes.
When The Dreams And Nightmare Crooner Almost Went From Dreams To Nightmare real Quick.
“They roughed me [the fuck] up but the love overpowered it,” Meek Mill captioned the video footage below. “Almost went from dreams to nightmares quick. Lol.”
Despite Meek Mill successfully fending off the overzealous crowd and living to joke about it on social media, the Dreams and Nightmares MC also claims to have had his phone stolen at some point during the pandemonium.
Meek Mill Robbed In Ghana
The American rapper, Robert Rihmeek Williams, also known as Meek Mill, lost his phone to thieves in Ghana during the Afronation concert. The 35-year-old reacted to the incident and took to his Instagram stories on Friday.
He wrote, “They pickpocketed me for my phone.“
“SMH! bring that jawn back if you got it.”
Shatta Wale’s Intervention
Aside from having his phone snatched, it appears as though Meek Mill has not only endeared the people of Ghana but is also in the good graces of Ghanaian musicians as well. Upon hearing the news of Meek’s stolen phone, popular dancehall artist Shatta Wale hit up Twitter with a message to the streets of Ghana.
“Streetz, if you know you have Meek Mill’s phone, please return if that’s true,” tweeted Shatta. “You can’t do that to a real hustler. By [tomorrow] morning, return a.m. Meek inspires all of us on the street a lot.”
Meek Mill’s phone recovered, police arrest suspect called Ababaawa
Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in the case of the phone theft involving the American rapper, Meek Mill.
A statement dated December 30, 2022 read:
POLICE RECOVER MEEK MILL’S STOLEN PHONE; SUSPECT ARRESTED The Police have arrested one suspect and retrieved a mobile phone that was stolen from Meek Mill, an American hip-hop artist. The suspect Nuhu Sule alias Ababaawa was arrested Friday, December 30, 2022, at his hideout in Accra. He is currently in Police custody and will be taken through the due process of the law. The victim, Meek Mill, reported his phone stolen in Accra on December 29, 2022.
Even after being forced to power through the Ghanaian crowd and having his phone stolen, Meek Mill appears to have had an overall experience of a lifetime. Another IG post from the Championships artist features a carousel of epic photos from the headlining Afro Nation performance as well as a few shots that capture some of Meek’s interactions during his trip to Ghana.

It was a big week for Hip-Hop in Nigeria as The HipHop Event witnessed an event like never before with Vector headlining the event and making history as M.I Abaga now known as The Guy performed alongside Tha Viper on their song “Crown Of Clay” for the first time after its release. M.I Abaga follows on the playlist with “Pass The Mic”, in which he featured Barnyjuice, Fozter, Preacher Kingz, Punchline, Seghun.
Nigerian lyricist, AQ teamed up with Sossick on the song “Mercy”. Other Nigerians that made the playlist are SuperWozzy & Psycho YP on “The Same”, Naira Marley with “Girls Just Wanna Have Funds”, and Erigga “The Goat” returns again this week.
Kumasi-Based Drill Rapper, Jay Bhad closed the Playlist with his creative tune titled “Anadwo”
Show Dem Camp got featured on Deena Ade’s “Poppin”, while Kwesi Aurther got featured on Criss Waddle‘s “King Kong”.

The Nigerian HipHop Scene experienced an event like never before on the 27th of December, 2022. The M.I Abaga Co-owned CCX Lounge on Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos, witnessed a large crowd of passionate HipHop lovers who came from various parts of the country to support the culture.
Ever since its inception in August2022, the DayGenius idea has continued to grow and looks promising to stay for a very long time.
With the involvement of TASCK and M.I Abaga partnered with DayGenius Battle Rap Africa to create “The HipHop Event” platform, the event has been remodelled into a complete HipHop Event Package.
The latest edition remains the best of the series, slightly rated over the November edition, which saw the 2022 Hennessy Cypher Africa participants – Octopizzo(Kenya), M.anifest(Ghana), A-Reece(South Africa), M.I Abaga & Vector(Nigeria) grace the event.
The December edition did get detty, but just like every event, there sure are some factors that need to be worked on and improved.
• Everything about the Timing of this event reeks of discomfort. From guests getting to the venue on time and waiting on battle rappers and performing artists to arrive – speaks Ill of the culture. Keeping fans and guests waiting is not an in-thing, it’s a vibe killer. Events extending till midnight make it difficult for some of the guests to head back home, that’s a big NO. Not everyone at the event has a car and can get back home anytime they like.
• The Crowd Control during Battle Raps is overwhelming. Now that might sound like a good thing but it makes the battle rappers sometimes skip their lines. Chit-Chats during the battle always call for “Hold it down” and this breaks the flow of the battle. Let me quickly add that, during the battle, supporters on the stage should allow for performance space and stop dragging the rapper every time he hits hard. Motivations can come in more subtle yet effective ways.
Sound? At this stage, I really think Sound problems shouldn’t be experienced anymore. Microphones going off and having to share one mic between rappers would definitely look bad on Camera.
Now for the juicy part of the event. I know you want to know my opinion.
Every artiste who came out to perform one or more of their songs did well. Seeing the confidence these acts have to entertain and pass their messages as well to the crowd is intriguing. I believe if these acts connect more with each other and assist/support each other, they would create a more comfortable environment for everyone to grow.
“THE END GAME”. Literally, when I saw the theme of the December Edition, I felt it did fit for the last month of the year. But at the end of the event, it meant much more. The idea of having 4 Battle Rappers Versus 4 Recording Rappers go bar-to-bar on stage was a classical way to end the year. but little did we know it would be a disaster for one of the sides.
It’s no longer news that the battle rappers were destroyed beyond repairs and it might take a long while before they have their glory restored. Dami Deasy was the only battle rapper of the night that did put up a good fight.
1. Recording artistes murdered Battle Rappers last night. @Damideazy was the only Battle Rapper who gave a good fight for his sector.
2. @MI_Abaga & @VectorThaViper performed together for the first time last night. It was a classical performance.
PSA: Dear DayGenius, We loyal followers and supporters of battle rap in Nigeria and Africa humbly plead with you to not keep us waiting for months before we get to watch these classic battles. Thanks. Back to The End Game.
Fozter destroyed Spikey. Facts! There’s no need to explain this. Fozter was undefeated in all 3 rounds.
Wilxon Vs Emmortal battle was another fatality. Emmortal was on fire all through the 3 rounds. Though some battle heads felt the crowd couldn’t differentiate from battle bars to ordinary puns and kept hyping unnecessarily. We’ll wait for the cam before we debate that.
Dave Boosie Vs C-Mion: C-Mion has been in the game for a long time. One of the highlights of his career was when he appeared on the Gino track, “No Be God“. Boosie took advantage of the rapper’s fall off from the scene but even that wasn’t enough to outdo C-Mion’s flows and performance. Meanwhile, what was that line that had the mention of PG Blao? I didn’t really get that.
Dami Deasy Vs Maximum: This was the main battle of the night and it definitely came with so much tension.
Dami Deasy did put up a good fight in the first round knocking Maximum off to win the round only by a tiny thread. It was a close call.
Maximum won the 2nd round, Crystal Clear! And I’ve got to say it was because…
DAMI CHOKED! DAMI LOST HIS VOICE!! DAMI’S MIC SUDDENLY BECAME SCARED!!! OLAWALE TRIED GIVING DAMI ALCOHOL TO HELP HIS VOICE!!!! DAMI BOUNCED BACK!!!!! AND DAMI GOT DUBBED “THE CCX KING”.
What better way to end The End Game than to bring out the Headliner, Vector Tha Viper.
From opening his performance with “Insomnia” to performing another hit track “Rap Attack” based on Popular demand. Vector kept the stage lit and the crowd ecstatic. It was fire.
History was made when M.I Abaga joined Vector on stage to perform the track, “Crown Of Clay” together. It was the first time both acts ever performed the song together on stage since it was released.

When Chance the Rapper visited West Africa earlier this year, he initially thought his trip with fellow Chicago hip-hop artist Vic Mensa would be just another vacation getaway.
Instead, the Grammy winner connected with Mensa’s father’s family in Ghana and other natives from the Motherland on a deeper level. He saw Ghana’s beautiful ocean coastline and waterfalls, engulfed himself in the musical culture and art scene and learned more about the country’s rich history of being the first sub-Saharan African country to free itself from colonialism.
After a couple more trips to Ghana, Chance decided to create a free concert series and visual arts show so others could experience the country’s vibrant culture just like he did.
During the summer, Chance and Mensa brought eight students from Chicago to Ghana to learn more about Africa.
“I felt so free in Ghana. .. and I want others to feel the same way,” said Chance, who along with Mensa will host the inaugural Black Star Line festival in Accra, Ghana, in 2023. The weeklong festival will feature events, panel discussions and a free concert on Jan. 6 with performances by Chance, Mensa, Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys and M.anifest.
The event will be held in Accra’s Black Star Square, a monument to the political freedom that was won by Ghanaians in 1957. The festival’s title was inspired by civil rights leader Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line, which was founded in 1919 and operated by Black people who helped link global shipping and tourism opportunities between America, the Caribbean and Africa.
Garvey inspired Chance’s music video “YAH Know,” featuring King Promise, and his upcoming album “Star Line Gallery,” which is expected for release next year. He’s already released a few other new music videos — such as ” Child of God,” ” A Bar About a Bar ” and ” The Highs & Lows ” with Joey Bada$$ — which he calls “album art” to highlight popular artists in Africa.
Chance said Naila Opiangah’s art piece for “Child of God” will be on display at the festival. He said his new “songs are candid realities of Black life.“
“Artists have amazing graphics and album covers and single artworks that are made by great artists every day that’s released,” he said. “But the only time you get to see it is on this little inch-by-one-inch depiction of it. These pieces are painted by world-class artists. The ability to go see those pieces and interact with them in real life kind of adds people’s understanding of the music.”
Through his festival, Chance says he wants to bridge the gap between Black people abroad and in Africa.
“I think that specifically, the story of the founder’s independence is something that all black people should know,” he said “There are no free sub-Saharan African countries until 1957. I think they should know about the revolutionary leaders on the continent and abroad. I think that if we had this connectedness and this interaction, people will actually have a chance to see this.”
Initially, it was tough gaining commitments from big-name music artists to travel and perform in West Africa. With few sponsors, much of the expenses to fund the free concert were out-of-pocket.
But Chance’s team found a way to make the trip more affordable for travellers through a partnership with United Airlines, which is offering discount fares to Ghana for a year.
It’s taken a lot of work to organize the event in such a short time, but Chance believes this festival could live on successfully for the next 50 years. In the future, he wants to host the festival in other countries, such as Jamaica and Haiti.
But for now, Chance’s focus has been on attracting more people to Ghana, a place he can envision his family living after his daughters head to college.
“I wish I could live there right now,” said the rapper, who has lived in Chicago his whole life. “I want people to see the convergence and similarities in all of these Black lives.“

Two legends from different genres blend for the culture
Today, Friday, December 9, legendary Afrobeat artist – Seun Kuti, and co-founder of The Roots – Black Thought finally release their much-anticipated EP African Dreams. The project is comprise of three hip-hop remixes from Kuti’s group Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s LP Black Times which was released in 2018 and nominated for a Grammy.
African Dreams was produced by Molotov, mixed by Q Million, mastered by Chris Athens, and distributed by AWAL, with album artwork by Oddhouse and marks the second collaboration between Kuti and Black Thought following their shared work on Common’s single “When We Move” which was shared worldwide for UN World Oceans Day and on The Tonight Show.
The announcement of the project in November followed the release of the record lead single “Kuku Kee Me (Remix),” which was shared with an animated music video on September 22, with the song debuting the following day. The track has been tapped for the official soundtrack of the video game FIFA 23.
African Dreams comes hot on the heels of the conclusion of Kuti & Egypt 80’s international tour, which has been on June 1 and ended in Madrid on November 7.

Nigerian Renowned rapper, Oladips has finally released his anticipated project called “Broke Boy”.
A lot of people thought the EP which contains three songs was released as an instrument to prove that rap is very much alive – as against the recent Wizkid blurt. That’s not the case after listening. It was obvious that Oladips addressed only one issue on the EP, and that was his fallout with his previous label.
“She Tell Me Say” is the first track on the EP, and it speaks of the artist’s hustle from the kick-off of his musical career.
On the track “Ola Look At You”, the rapper addressed his journey so far after he fell out with his record label. If you are conversant with the story of how he fell out with his former label, then you would be able to relate to the song.
“Agege Bread” further addresses the same issue as the previous tracks. OlaDips compares himself with the famous Agege Bread which has no label but enjoys massive demand. He added a prayer to God to keep lifting him and also showed appreciation to his “Dipsciples” – Fans.
