Nasty C is “Rapping Again,” on New Song Titled ‘Can’t Imagine’

0

In our last editorial post, we predicted a new Nasty C album is on the way, on the same day the Durban emcee announced he was releasing a new song the next day, March 25th, 2022. The rapper posted a short snippet of the song titled ‘Can’t Imagine’ and its cover art on his official Instagram account @nasty_csa.

South African hip hop legend Slikour, from the rap group Skwatta Kamp, commented ”let’s rap” on the post buttressing the feeling of many hip hop fans about a lack of “hard rap songs” from Nasty C in recent time, recent time here referring to the era after his 2018 album, ‘Strings & Bling.’

‘Can’t Imagine’ features hard-hitting 808’s, hi-hats, and haunting, sharp horns, with a lyrical verse sprinkled with a level of braggadocio one would expect from Jay Z.

This may be a prelude to more rap songs from the emcee or a farewell to hardcore rap in favor of more melodic cuts, but one thing is sure that Nasty C can still really rap, when he wants to.

Enjoy ‘Can’t Imagine and don’t forget to share with your friends on all social media platforms.

I was introduced to ‘vulnerable sexuality’ at six -Rapper Eva Alordiah

Nigerian rapper, Eva Alordiah, has spoken out about her unwilling debut into the world of sex as a child. On Wednesday, in a series of tweets addressing questions she received during her Instagram stories Question and Answer session, the rapper revealed that she was introduced to “vulnerable sexuality” at the age of six.

Alordiah also condemned fans who were in the habit of peering into her sex life and trying to use the same as a “yardstick to measure how good of a woman” she was. She wrote, “So yesterday someone asked me in QnA in my stories if I was a virgin. I understand this question considering the type of society I grew up in. It is a sort of yardstick to measure how ‘good’ of a woman you are. Every time I put up a QnA, there is always that one cow who asks this question, ‘Are you a virgin?’ “No. And you must be very stupid to go around asking women you don’t know questions like this. I may be wrong but I don’t think I have ever seen this question directed at men.”

Alordiah further stated, “When the concept of being a virgin is brought up, it’s the ‘woman’ who is expected to be a Virgin.”

Thankfully, Life taught me different and my unique experience ensured that against my will, I was introduced to my own vulnerable sexuality at age six,” she disclosed. Eva maintained that her case was not peculiar, as many “men and women today carry heavy sexual trauma” because they were introduced to sex far too early in life.

She further condemned society’s judgemental nature which deterred people from opening up about their sexual abuse. “Many kids cover up the scars of the sexual abuse within, have no one to talk to, and then have to face a society that expects you to be perfect, untouched, and holy, otherwise you are going to hell,” she tweeted.

The rapper who recently made her comeback to the music scene maintained that she neither cared about society’s purity standards nor did she want to be seen as anyone’s role model. She said, “I’m a born sinner, not your idea of holy and I’ll never fit your model of perfect. So please, don’t look up to me. Look in the mirror.”

Is a New Nasty C Album in the Works?

0

The last time we heard from Zulu man with some power was on Audiomarc’s Why Me(Mbali), featuring himself and Blxckie, we all know it’s a Naty C song but we’ll let it slide. The big question is what has Junior Ncgobo been up to since then?

The Durban emcee recently released a ”salty, middle finger to an ex” minor hit titled Stalling, which quite frankly sounds like a precursor to something bigger. The song did not even get video treatment.

Nasty C must have noticed that fans have been itching for new music after releasing just two songs last year, as he has gone on a light feature spree; most notably a fire verse on Nigerian singer Hanu Jay’s Is She Louisa?

Since Nasty’s 25th Birthday show, a new is now present in Nasty C’s branding; he has taken various retro photos, rocking an old Kangol flat cap and suspender suits, complete with a Cuban cigar, in the style of middle-aged South African fathers from the Townships…Sizwe Bansi style.

New nasty c album

Is the above a new alter ego Nasty has created? a new character for a new story? Chances are that this is all the beginning of a rollout for a forthcoming project.

This notion is enforced by several videos surfacing on the web, of Nasty making new beats in his infamous home studio. There may be some unreleased bangers in the Ncgobo vault, and we might get to hear them soon.

Nasty C has been fairly quiet since 2020’s Zulu Man with Some Power. Do you think we are getting a new Nasty C album soon?

Blaqbonez hosts Clout Talk Concert 2.0 alongside some of Naija’s new Pop stars

There aren’t that many spaces that allow artists to connect directly with their fans in physical spaces. Music incubator and media agency Clout Africa is committed to finding innovative ways to fill that gap. It recently launched the Clout Talk Concert #CTC, one of the first of its kind – Talk Only Concert in Africa.

Rapper and media maestro Blaqbonez was tapped to host the second edition of the Clout Talk Concert. The rapper has mastered the art of driving conversations on social media around his projects and garnered the respect of his peers. There was no better person to take all that online charisma and translate it to a live audience. He took charge at the Space Hub in Lekki Phase One on March 4th, 2022 at the Clout Talk Concert, supported by beverage giant Pepsi, and sponsored by Cadbury’s TomTom holding the attention of a full house for a 5-hour extravaganza with some of Naija’s most charismatic new pop stars.

The guest roster for the second edition of Clout Talk Concert was as diverse as ever and the guests got to join the banter as rapper SGawd, singer Tomi Owo, the charismatic Bella Shumurda, alternative singer Johnny Drille, and ace duo Ajebo Hustlers shared the stage with BlaqBonez, dishing on their careers and music and pulling a few answers of their own out of the concert’s enigmatic host. BlaqBonez kept the conversation fun with the occasional curveball about their relationship with their fandoms and the future of the industry. They were encouraged to interact directly with the guests while Cool FM’s Dj Joenel ran the decks, pumping hit after hit to keep the energy levels up and Fabulous keeping the crowd hype.

“This is our second concert and we’re pleased with the way the Naija music fandom has embraced what we do” Joseph Adamu, head of events at AIM communications and consultant for the CTC remarked.

Should we expect any Trap songs from Rave N Roses?

0

Nigerian new age Afrobeats and Trap artist, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, released the tracklist for his highly anticipated debut album dropping this Friday, 25th March 2022.

The star-studded tracklist boasts of several A-list foreign artists including Atlanta native, 6lack, R&B veteran Chris Brown, and UK rapper AJ Tracey who was featured on the latest single from the album, Fresh Young Nigga.

Speaking of Fresh Young Nigga, the single is sonically referred to as AfroRave by Rema, a fusion of Afrobeats, Afropop, and hip hop/ Trap-esque elements. This proves that Rema is open to exploring different genres and sounds on Rave N Roses.

The last time Rema dropped a Trap song was Alien way back in June 2020, prior to this he had released an all Trap Extended Play containing four Trap songs that were formerly freestyles on Instagram.

Rema had gone on IG live last year to play some snippets of unreleased Trap songs that could make the album, let’s hope they make the final cut.

Rema and 6lack had previously collaborated on 4 AM, an Afrobeats song by Manny Norte in 2020. The hip-hop community would really love the East Atlanta Trapper to be more in his comfort zone on their upcoming collab on Rave N Roses. Meanwhile, below is the official trailer for Rave N Roses released early this week.

Blxckie shooting video for By Your Side ft CKay

0

Seems like we will be hearing some more ”ye ye ye ye” from arguably Mzanzi’s most consistent hiphop artist of the moment.

South African rapper, trapper, and singer, Blxckie was seen in Cape Town in what looked very much like a video shoot with Nigerian artist, CKay.

The duo had released the Afrobeat and Amapiano fusion single titled By Your Side in 2021 to favourable critical reviews from fans and a video would further boost the popularity of the song.

Blxckie has been busy touring all over Southern Africa and is preparing for the European leg of his tour, including opening for Earthgang in Prague, Czech Republic later in the year.

Blxckie had previously linked up with another Nigerian singer, Oxlade for a song called Joy in August 2021.

What are your thoughts on both songs, leave them in the comments and share the post with friends via all social media platforms.

Cancelled Ycee show sparks mixed reactions

CITY of Kigali’s decision to cut abruptly the long anticipated ‘Love Drunk Party’ featuring Nigerian artiste Ycee that was scheduled for March 19 at Villa Portofino Hotel in Kigali has triggered mixed reactions from different artistes, organisers and music lovers who are now calling for justice.

It started at 19:15pm with Soldier Kid and some other artistes and as revellers enjoyed the show, at 10:30pm, without any notice, the music was stopped, leaving everyone at the venue confused.

Gilbert Muhaturukundo, CEO of Evolve Music Group, said that the concert was cancelled by Merard Mpabwanamaguru, the vice mayor in charge of urbanisation and infrastructure in the City of Kigali, without any alert given to the organisers.

“Prior to the event, we wrote some letters asking for permission to carry out a concert and we got the go-ahead which was signed by the Vice Mayor, and the very same person is the one who came and unplugged the sound systems claiming that the event was making noise which he personally was not comfortable with,” said Muhaturukundo.

Stopping the show is said to have come after some headliners started performing, a move that City of Kigali said was caused by failure to moderate sound in a residential area.

Both Evolve Music and Trappish Music, organisers of the event, had all the clearance from Rwanda Convention Bureau and City of Kigali, according to a statement they released on Sunday, March 20.

One of the organisers and headliners of the show, Ish Kevin, told this publication that the concert was stopped before Police arrived at the scene.

He said that there wasn’t any instrument used to measure sound pressure, like a decibel meter, which is used to assess noise or sound levels.

About the issue of time management, Ish Kevin also clarified with evidence that they had permission to run the event till 1:30am.

“We have spent over Rwf20 million to make this happen and it was stopped without cause. If there is any proof that we didn’t moderate the sound, the City of Kigali can provide it,” he says.

When asked what they plan to do in light of their loss, the organisers said that they plan on consulting the courts as they are currently under the process of filing a case.

Renowned rapper Kivumbi King also said something similar on social media.

“The people that work for @CityofKigali are the reason why young capable Rwandans want to go to Europe and America and not come back, we give our all and in return we get this, these are our lives you are playing with, our LIVES,” read his tweet.

Fast-rising-artiste Mike Kayihura also questioned the decision of cancelling the concert, noting that it can make young artistes who are trying their best to make a living lose motivation and the winning spirit.

“How do the artistes create spaces for themselves and different ways to ‘eat’ or stay inspired, and they are shut down because of noise? Or a neighbour isn’t happy? What is the message exactly? That kills loads of energy put in collaboration,” Kayihura said on Twitter.

“Good evening @merardmp, instead of blessing our youngsters’ hustles you’re just putting them under scandalous loss. Let our youth work for their living and create room for them to live their dreams,” read a tweet by Jean de Dieu Akayezu.

Luckyman Nzeyimana, a showbiz journalist, also highlighted that the move to cancel the concert was bad. “Not happy about this action!! If you can’t support them, who else will support them!!! And after you need them for some campaign?? Not happy at all!! Peace up!”

Through his social media platforms, Ycee, the renowned Nigerian rapper who was the main guest of the event, apologised to his fans saying that hopefully justice will be served.

Nigeria born—South African based rapper, C Blaq talks career highlight and upcoming debut EP

0

C Blaq born Charles Ebiemi is a Nigeria born—South African based rapper, songwriter, producer, businessman and philanthropist. Since the release of his debut “Waff City Boi” in 2012, the rapper-producer has not stopped exiting music lovers worldwide from which he has built up a loyal base for his impactful hip-hop style, cementing himself as one of the genre top stars on the rise to watch.

In an interview with Journalist C Blaq gave origination of his name the C originates from my first name CHARLES and BLAQ from the colour of my skin which was used to taunt me by my peers as a kid, although I spell black with a Q as a sign of quality. So Black Charles became C BLAQ and that was the beginning of my journey to be one of the greatest of my generation and prove that anything is achievable with self-belief.

C Blaq is in his own lane, trying to birth new sounds and create his own style. From my first release ‘WAFF CITY BOI’ in 2012, it has been an amazing journey so far.

My life without music is like a deep hole filled with darkness and absolute quietness. The chills I get when I see what my life will be without music is terrifying to the point that I have done everything and anything to keep growing from one stage to another despite the pace at which I have been moving. I believe in being slow and steady instead of rushing to failure.

The most important thing is to keep pushing forward towards the light and avoid as many obstacles along the way as possible. Distractions and peer pressure will test your resolve and determination to keep going, it will take something special for you to become successful as a rap artist especially here in Africa.

Having this awareness meant I have to always move differently and avoid the crowded road on my journey to greatness.

C blaq also said his management have put everything that has to do with appearance or performance on hold while working on my forthcoming project. The public will be notified through a press release when we have secured dates and venues for the premiere and launch of my EP project coming up within the year.
