Sometimes in 2021, Nigerian rapper and lyricist Jeriq The Hustler released a joint EP “West and East” with his Western Nigerian colleague, Dremo Drizzy. For many people, the project introduced the former rapper to the more popular Nigerian music scene.
From releasing the project which went on to clinch the number 1 position on the Nigerian apple music chart in 2021, the rapper gradually gained the attention of Nigerians. He proceeded to release his debut album “Billion Dollar Dreams” in 2022, and the album became the rapper’s second No.1 Track.

Jeriq has worked with the likes of PsychoYP, Dremo, Kofi Jamar, Alpha P, Flavour and even Phyno in the past and has over the years continued to spearhead a new Hip-hop wave in the Eastern part of Nigeria.
The rapper was recently featured on one of the biggest Hip-hop sounds out of Nigeria in a long time. The song which is titled “Oganigwe” sees him share the same space with Nigeria’s foremost rapper Zlatan and the newest King on the block Odumodu Blvck.
Oganigwe has gone ahead to become one of the biggest musical sounds from Nigeria, as it has continued to blow up all around the country and even went ahead to debut on the Top 5 of the Nigerian Apple music chart.
Jeriq was also spotted recently on a video call with one of the biggest musical exports from Africa, Davido. The video link-up is believed to have been made possible due to his association with Zlatan Ibile, who is a well-known friend of Davido. Zlatan even went ahead to give Davido a shout-out on “Oganigwe“.
The growth of Jeriq into a superstar has been on a steady rise and has been one to pay maximum attention to, especially because the superstar just seems to never stop.
Over the weekend he had a shutdown show in the eastern part of Nigeria and was also recently one of the performers at the sold-out “Mainland Block Party” which took place in the Nigerian Capital city, Abuja.
During the course of the week, he hopped on the new Tion Wayne record “Healing” and dropped a mad vibe on the record. The cover has now gone ahead to gain a level of clout amongst his fans and even nationally as well.
Jerid The Hustler as he is popularly referred to, in collaboration with his team the “Iyoo Cartel” has continued to design the new blueprint for what a rapper from the eastern part of Nigeria should be like.
Probably one of the very few rappers who has carried on the rap wave which is more popular in the United States, that is moving with a crowd and has a large team often tagged Gang or cartel.
We at Hip-hop Africa will continue to support the young star, with our continued support and also look forward to what he has in store for his fans in the remaining part of the year.
