Lucasraps Reveals Why Some Of The Best Rappers Come From KZN. Some of the countries hottest rappers hail from KwaZulu Natal, the spotlight has definitely been on the 031 in 2021. One of the hottest SA Hip Hop acts at the moment, Blxckie hails from the coastal province. It will always be a battle as to which province has produced the hottest rappers. The ongoing debate always sparks some interesting comments on the streets. Recently Lucasraps who hails from KZN recently weighed in on the hot debate after a Twitter user asked, why do the best rappers hail from KZN or PTA.

Lucasraps is proud of hailing from the province and despite him staying in the City Of Gold, he knows where his roots are. The rapper even titled his debut album, 031 To The World. Lucasraps shared the secret as to why the province has such talented artists. According to the Slide hitmaker, the secret is in the water, as he claims that there is something different in it. “The water in Durban is just different,” remarked the rapper. One Twitter user claimed that may be the cause for all the heat in KZN is because the rappers all sleep in jeans.

Rapper Loki, who is signed to K.O’s record label Skhanda World remarked that high expectations are a thing in KZN and the bar is very high. “High expectations is part of the culture in KZN …if you’re lame , sok’tshela,” said Loki. The debate of where the best rappers hail will always get people talking, other Twitter users argued that artists only make it to the mainstream when they move to Johannesburg. This could be possibly true as Lucasraps himself made it after he made the big move to Jozi. Lucasraps lied his way to the big city, the young rapper at the time was recording music with DJ Maphorisa. Lucasraps lied to the hit producer about his parents granting him permission to move to Johannesburg, but this was not the case. Luckily Lucasraps’ parents managed to forgive him.

Blxckie has also admitted that moving to Joburg helped his career, in an interview with Breakroom Africa, Blxckie revealed that he might have not made had he not have been ‘stuck’ in Joburg. Blxckie found himself in Joburg when the national lockdown was placed last year in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. “If I had any chance of making it, I needed to be in Joburg. It’s where all the other artists and producers are and everything just happens at a faster pace if you have the drive and work ethic,” shared Blxckie with the publication.
