On Friday, July 26th, 2024, South African artist Ivy Leeg released a new single titled “Linger On,” featuring Fentse, Barry Staxx, Carter IV, DoouShi, and NovaTron. This song can only be described as three minutes of pure bliss.
Ivy Leeg, a Pretoria-born artist, refuses to be confined to a single genre. From hip hop to the smooth melodies of R&B, house, and electronic music, he effortlessly navigates diverse soundscapes, establishing himself as a unique talent in the music industry.
It wouldn’t be right to talk about Ivy Leeg without mentioning where I first discovered him. My introduction to his music was on Nino Fresco’s “Fly For Magriza” project, particularly on the opening track, “Pilot.” Interestingly, I also encountered Fentse through “Fly For Magriza ” on two occasions, “Kasi Girl” and “Sensitive” .
To me, “Linger On” evokes a sense of warmth and joy, making it feel like the perfect soundtrack for a summer road trip with a loved one. Its smooth, soulful melodies evoke a sense of lightness and joy, as if I am basking in the warmth of the sun. To top it off, Fentse’s beautiful voice on the hook and Ivy Leeg’s smooth , captivating verse create a dreamy, almost ethereal atmosphere that leaves me feeling uplifted and deeply connected to the music. It’s the kind of song that brings a smile to my face and a flutter to my heart, making me feel alive and in love with life.
This song is a seamless fusion of electronic music, hip hop, and R&B, characterized by smooth, soulful, and jazzy intricate rhythms. Its infectious nature leaves a vibrant, groovy vibe that feels both nostalgic and fresh. From just one listen , I felt fully present and connected to the moment, leaving me with a feeling of pure bliss.
