A LOOK AT HIP-HOP STAR RIKY RICK LIFE BEFORE HIS DEATH.
Jay Z Wins Lawsuit Against Perfume Company, Win Millions Of Dollars In Royalties
Travelling back in time, in 2012, JAY-Z inked a deal with Parlux, a perfume company who would manufacture the “Gold Jay Z” line of perfume. Parlux became frustrated with Hov and claimed he breached their contract when he did not attend the 2014 Gold Jay Z launch at Macy’s, as well as missing promotional appearances for the perfume line for “Good Morning America” and in Women’s Wear Daily.
This led to Parlux filing a suit against Sean Carter, better known as JAY-Z, where they would seek a $68 million settlement for JAY failing to uphold his end of their deal. In the lawsuit, Parlux and their attorney Anthony Viola “accused the star of failing to properly promote his Gold Jay-Z cologne line” which caused $18 million in lost revenue, saying: “If the defendants had fulfilled the contract, if they have upheld their end of the bargain, Parlux would have had a runaway success. We would have netted $67.6 million in net profits.”
But JAY-Z disagreed, insisting they instead owed him $2.7 million in royalties. He eventually testified in court in October 2021, along with his lawyer Alex Spiro. Hov’s argument against the suit is that Parlux never provided the adequate products and effort into the “Gold Jay-Z” line that he anticipated, and was always frustrated with the work they provided.
He would eventually be cleared of any breach of contract in November. Now, a few months later, JAY has claimed another victory over his estranged perfume partners, as an appellate court ruled on Feb. 24 that he is entitled to over $4.5 million in royalties.
In the court’s unanimous decision, Justice John Higgitt claimed that Parlux still made money off of Hov’s name even after they claimed he breached their contract: “The record is clear: Parlux sold licensed products after July 31, 2015, but failed to pay royalties on those sales.”
Clearly, Parlux were trying to pull a fast one on Hov, but justice got served!
Ye Releases ‘Donda 2’ Album On Stem Player
Two days after Ye premiered his new studio album, Donda 2, in front of a sold-out crowd in Miami, the full album has been released exclusively on Stem Player. Adding eleven more songs from the track-list onto the device, the first version of Donda 2 is officially out now.
This comes after Ye dropped four songs from the album on Stem Player earlier this week, debuting “Security,” “We Did It Kid” with Migos and Baby Keem, “Pablo” with Travis Scott and Future, and “Broken Road” with Don Toliver. Today’s new additions include “True Love” with XXXTentacion, “Louie Bags” with Jack Harlow, “Happy” with Future, “Sci Fi” with Sean Leon, “First Time in a Long Time” with Soulja Boy, and more.
“City Of Gods” with Fivio Foreign and Alicia Keys was previously made available on the device and currently sits at the tail end of the album’s tracklist.
Interestingly enough, because of the Stem Player’s limited storage, some fans have noted that you cannot have Donda 1 and Donda 2 on the device at the same time as there is not enough room on the player. Still, a number of Ye’s most loyal supporters have been raving over the Stem Player, detailing how it’s one of the most integral parts of this rollout.
We will keep you updated as the album gets uploaded to streaming services but for right now, you’ll need a Stem Player to listen to the full thing.

Pusha T Confirms Jay Z Collab Is Up On His Incoming New Album
G.O.O.D Music might not have a run to 2018 when Kanye and co were dropping back-to-back albums on a weekly basis. However, it looks like we’ll be hearing a lot from the camp this spring. While Kanye’s set to drop Donda 2 tonight, Pusha T is also ramping up the efforts for his forthcoming album. Earlier this month, we got our first taste with the release of “Diet Coke” but as Pusha T hits the press cycle, he’s revealing a bit more information on what we could expect.
After connecting on “Drug Dealers Anonymous” in 2016, there’s been a high demand for Jay-Z and King Push to deliver more collaborative records together. Jay-Z became incredibly selective about the type of records he jumps on now but it seems like Pusha T managed to find the perfect track for the Brooklyn legend to hop on. Push confirmed during his appearance on Million Dollaz Worth Of Game this weekend that Jay-Z would appear on his forthcoming effort.
Jay and Push have connected twice in the past. Once on “So Appalled” off of Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and then on the aforementioned “Drug Dealers Anonymous.” Push confirmed that Jay “got busy” on the new record.
Shortly a recent interview where he hinted at a Jay Z collab, Pusha T’s manager, teased a snippet of Hov’s verse on the album.
There’s been rumors that the album will be out this April. but a release date has yet to be announced.
Kanye West’s Jeen-Yuh’s Trilogy Docu-series Part One Is Out & It’s Got Some Mind-blowing Reveals
Kanye West, now going by Ye, is one of the most polarizing and esteemed artists to take the world by storm. The jeen-yuhs documentary details the tempestuous path that got him to where he is today.
On February 10th, jeen-yuhs (Act 1), the first of a trilogy, was released in select theaters nationwide. Dedicated fans and analysts ecstatically took this opportunity to enjoy the chronicles of Ye’s early career, before the rest of the world gained access to the archives on streaming platforms.
The audiences were filled with almost exclusively hardcore fans, considering the product would be available for “free” (part of a monthly subscription, which comes in at less than the price of a single movie ticket) in the comfort of their homes. Those that didn’t mind the short wait were gifted views into Kanye West’s journey 6 days later on Netflix.
At 1 hour and 30 minutes long, Act 1 of the jeen-yuhs trilogy focuses on the extremely early conception of Ye’s stardom. We see him before meeting anyone at Roc Nation, before landing a major beat placement – before even moving to New York to kickstart his career. The visual documentation invites us into Kanye’s Chicago: lyricists and beatmakers abroad. Fans are introduced to his first influences, found in city streets and sidewalk studios owned by friends and family. It is truly told from the very beginning, and leaves viewers anticipating the next imstallment.
A moment in the jeen-yuhs documentary that has been making the rounds in people’s minds and social media pages is Ye’s visit to the Roc-A-Fella Records office. The scene shows him, camera crew in tow, playing an early version of the song “All Falls Down” for members of the label staff. To fans, unaware of these events before now, the disinterest and lack of enthusiasm from the employees came as a shock. People began tweeting questions, such as “How could they not know ‘All Falls Down’ was amazing?”
Act 1 of the jeen-yuhs documentary is now available for streaming now on Netflix.

Moroccan rap blossoms thanks to social media
You may not have heard of El Grande Toto, but he is one of the most streamed artists on the Moroccan rap scene. With
20 million people from more than 90 different countries listening to his tunes on Spotify, the 24 year old has started to make a name for himself in the music industry.
Taha Fahssi, who goes under the name El Grande Toto whenever he picks up the mic, is part of this new generation of artists that is changing the Moroccan Rap Music scene.
“Moroccan rappers are working hard, Moroccan producers are working hard, Moroccan engineers are working hard, everyone here is working, we work like crazy. We don’t have the adequate industry, things are starting to grow now”, explains El Grande Toto.
“But we can consider ourselves lucky. Who would have imagined one day, seeing the van of an online platform bearing the face of a rapper touring around Casablanca, who would have imagined one day a Moroccan rapper appearing in Paris?”, says Taha Fahssi.
In the traditionnaly male-dominated rap scene, being a woman can be tough. If a chosen like Ghizlane, aka “Snowflake”, have managed to make it, like the stigma is still there.
“Every time someone speaks to a female rapper, they address her as a woman, not as a person who does this like everyone else. But it’s true that it is unique to be a female rapper, it’s unique to be a woman in Morocco, in general. So it brings a perspective with an added value that male rap will never have”, explains the 25 year-old rapper.
Social Media as a way to share their music
If Moroccan Rap has managed to catch the attention of many outside of the North African kingdom, it’s mainly thanks to social media.
Issam, has managed to be one of the first moroccan rappers to sign a deal with a European based Record Label.
“There are very good artists, who have their place thanks to platforms like YouTube, Instagram and others. Today, there isn’t a single medium to help artists promote themselves.”
Despite its success, the Moroccan musical industry is still struggling to promote its new artists. But these new rappers, backed by a whole generation of Moroccans are not ready to give up anytime soon.
