On this day in 2019, Nadia Nakai came for necks with her latest single from Nadia Naked, “Imma Boss.” Nakai announced that she would be dropping her debut album in May, but she kept the drop of “Imma Boss” secret, only to come out strong with a brilliant track.
For years, Nadia has referred to herself as the queen of rap, however, this solo single gives the moniker more weight. She comes in hot, saying “Top ten, I’m not ten, I’m top one.” A rapper illustrating they’re greatness is nothing new, but with “Imma Boss,” Nadia’s carer highs work in her favor as she comments on her endorsement deals with the likes of Courvoisier and Redbat. Additionally, speaking on one of the major moments in her career, being one of the cover girls of Glamour Magazine, subsequently making her the first female emcee to accomplish a Glamour cover.
While she describes the song as a turn-up track, “Imma Boss” is more than just something to get the club shaking. Nadia pushed her pen with this one and her production team exercised all of their strength too. “Imma Boss” sees Nadia unapologetically celebrating her work over the past few years.
In addition to releasing the single, Nadia debuted her album art and tracklist. Fans will recognize songs like “Naaa Meaan” and “Yas Bitch” made it to the album. However, there are also features from the likes of Lady Zamar, Kwesta, YCee, and Tshego, on top of the existing feature from Cassper Nyovest. Not to be undervalued, however, is that Nadia secured a guest verse from Steff London, the UK based rapper. WIth 17 tracks on Nadia Naked, nine tracks sport no feature. This puts her featured songs and solo tracks at an equal count.
Until Nadia Naked debuts on June 28, 2019, fans can vibe out to “Imma Boss” and add the album on Apple Music for pre-order HERE
