South African rapper Rouge just dropped the visuals for her hit track Dololo which is the seventh track on Rouge’s recently released debut album titled ‘The New Era Sessions’. Rouge enlisted rapper Bigstar on this joint.
FM Records’ John Networq just put out one of the hottest hiphop video on the continent at the moment. The Nigerian rapper just released the visuals to his hit single ‘Please’. Please try not to get hooked on this amazing piece of work!
They said hiphop was dead in Nigeria but we were just too busy looking in the wrong places. Boogey has been in the game for years putting out hiphop music consistently & never for once betraying the art form. Of course we have prominent hiphop heads in Nigeria, the likes of MI Abaga, Terry Tha Rapman, Modenine, Vector, Illbliss, Iceprince, to but name a few, but Boogey has been there alongside the likes of AQ, Pherowshuz, McSkill ThaPreaha, etc., leading the cause of the undergroup who have kept the art form of hiphop pure and uncorrupted. Nowadays, Boogey and these acts have started finding their way into the light and renewed acceptance by the urban youth population.
Boogey is a three times Headies nominee and this is his sixth music compilation project. This is definitely an outstanding piece of work. The project according to Boogey is about dealing with the demons in his closet and sharing them openly with his fans in black and white via his music. The project is a 15 tracks album with an impressive list of collaborations which include Terry Tha Rapman, Sojay, Lady Donli, Jazz, Kemi Smallz, GoodGirl LA, Tay Iwar, to but mention a few. It is of note to say that the album is one that has something for fans with different variations of appeal of hiphop music. Heaven Can Wait with sojay is an uptempo rap and soulful rnb mixture that will drive your blood, Level VI is a vibrant strictly hiphop piece, Solo with Jazz & Kemi Smallz infuses that Jazz feel with a slow serene hiphop flow, Magic Man with Terry Tha Rapman is definitely an attractive busta-rhymes-like flow with Terry coming through with his smooth yet comic lines and you can find out the rest when you listen to the album. This album can do no wrong, or did it? We’ll that is for you to comment.

Sarkodie on Thursday, March 23 released a new record which seeks to conscientise Ghanaians on the need to accord utmost priority road safety.
In the song, titled “Wake Up Call” (Road Safety), the C.E.O of SarkCess Music record label expressed his reaction to the alarming annual statistics on road accidents complied by the National Road Safety Commission.
After conducting his research to be acquainted with these worrying statistics, Sarkodie in the song called for all stakeholders to effectively play their roles to avert this menace.
Upon seeing the song, M.anifest shared the link on Twitter, gave him thumbs up (indicating his love for the project), adding that Sarkodie has ‘done well’.
The two has not been at loggerhead since 2016 after they went at each other lyrically. It’s not clear whether they have quashed their differences but M.anifest’s reaction to Sarkodie’s project may prove that their differences have been solved.

Tumi has been commended for putting a lot of rappers on in SA Hip Hop over the years. In a recent interview with Rashid Kay, he spoke about how the new artists also paved a way for Stogie T which is Tumi’s new alias.
“Tumi paved a way for a lot of rappers, but at the same time Emtee and Nasty C paved the way for Stogie T, not Tumi but Stogie T. If it wasn’t for It’s Just The Way It Go and By Any Means these kids wouldn’t know Stogie T. So as much as he can claim I did this, I did that for who, Nasty C and Emtee made Stogie T,” said Rashid Kay.
In the interview they also talked about the shots that Stogie T was taking at Riky Rick and Cassper Nyovest at Star signs. Rashid called the shots unnecessary because of the era we are in at this stage of Hip Hop in SA.

Play Africa Music, a Ghana-based online music store has officially launched its service. A press conference held at Badu Lounge in Accra on Friday, February 23, 2018 had key MUSIGA and GHAMRO stakeholders as well as the media and some musicians in attendance.
Play Africa is an application which only promotes, stream and sell only African music. The application runs on Android and iOS. This application is one that will register every song that has ever been produced from every country in Africa.
Play Africa is a musical platform where people will have a renewable subscription monthly to be able to access songs from their favorite artist. In every African country people can pay for subscription from their local currency. Payment for subscriptions or purchase of a song can be done easily using all Mobile money platforms and all credit card systems.
On Play Africa people can buy albums or single tracks. Play Africa seeks to end piracy from the African continent and that every song purchase stays in a Play List on the APP. The Play Africa Playlist can also be downloaded on every computer so that songs can easily be synchronized and listen to everywhere.
Isaac Yeboah Filson, CEO of Play Africa Music in his address at the press conference says, “the music store seeks to hit about 5million subscribers across Africa within the next 5 years and raise revenue of about US $23 billion by 2030. For the past 5 years we’ve been working around to put this together to serve the Ghanaian and African market. And we are privileged to have succeeded in making this dream materialize. Play Africa Music (PAM) will be the biggest music network in Africa. We have singles selling as low as between 50 pesetas to 99 pesewas. There are also streaming options that cost as low as GHC 6. There are other mouthwatering packages that exist if you download the app. We have made it very feasible for music lovers to easily buy songs with the Mobile Money accounts, PayPal and Credit Cards.”
“Interestingly, with our pilot project, people seem to be buying old songs than even the new ones – which means that, we need to build a good library of songs and albums that have been released several years ago. Even though there are free download platforms, we can build our own network and generate more income for our music. Besides, we must stop putting out music for free, it has to be paid for. One good thing about our service is that, songs bought from our store will only be active and played from our app – they cannot be downloaded onto any third party material,” he added.
According to the CEO, Play Africa Music seeks to partner and produce songs and albums Artistes in order to produce quality and standard content for the music store. All countries to subscribe have the charge equivalence in their local currency.
Bessa Simons, 2 Vice President of MUSIGA and Veteran Musician who graced the occasion was very happy about the service. “Play Africa Music is the greatest thing to happen to Ghana Music Industry. I wish this had happened when I started doing Music actively to sell proper. All the same, it’s here at the right time. MUSIGA is in full support of this and will continue to support. I urge all Ghanaian Artistes to sign up. And the ones who have already signed up, I’m happy for them.
The app is available for all android users on the Google Play Store. It will soon be available on iOS for Apple gadget users.
